When I moved “out of the frame” into working sculpturally, I wanted a piece to be viewable from all sides. My next challenge was to free the creations from gravity, and I began making the suspensions shown in another gallery in the Art section. Now I’m moving from opacity to translucency in these forms, beginning in 2013. The light shining through these encaustigraphics, either hanging in a window or from the edge of a lamp, is as richly colorful as stained glass, but much lighter in weight.
